It’s a shocking statistic. In the time you take to read this page, in our world some 16 children will die just from drinking contaminated water. In fact, if you care to take the time to read through all the pages in this brochure, and mull them over, possibly as many as 100 children will have died, all from just drinking water.

Water-borne diseases kill one child every eight seconds, day after day.

People in rich countries use 10 times more water than those in poor ones. The present situation is dire: the future looks so grim it seems to be entirely unmanageable. The world cannot increase its supply of fresh water: all it can do is change the way it uses it. Water is not running out: it is simply that there are steadily more of us to share it.

Most of the world’s water is already inaccessible, or comes in the form of storms and hurricanes to the wrong places at the wrong times. There is no one-size-fits-all prescription for the harsh business of bringing water demand into line with supply. Nor is there an “off-the-peg solution” of engineering our way out of the crisis. Air Water machines extract water out of the "air" that we breathe, and while they are not the final or total solution, they will help bring clean drinkable water to more and more people.

If water is life, we must learn to treat it not as a commodity to be sold to the highest bidder, or as an entitlement to the privileged, but as an essential component of human existence and we should all uphold the values of protecting the environment that makes fresh water available to us.
